Teen Summer Reading: Own the Night-The North Shelby Library Teen Department has all kinds of programs and activities scheduled for this year’s summer reading program — contests, comics, movies, crafts and more. Plus prizes and food! Registration runs throughout June. Reading logs are stamped beginning June 1.
Teen Summer Reading Kickoff! Monday, June 4, 6 – 8 p.m.; arrive between 5:30 – 6 p.m. Join us for a showing of Men in Black III (PG-13, 95 minutes) at the Rave Motion Pictures Theater at Lee Branch!! We will provide admission and refreshments for teens (entering 6th -12th grade) registered for the summer reading program. Parents and siblings are welcome to attend for $9 each. Must register by 5 p.m. on June 1 in the teen department. Payment for non-teens due at registration.
Battle of the Books Introductory Meeting, Thursday, June 7, 5:30 – 6 p.m. Do you have what it takes to be the champion of Battle of the Books? Teams of teens will compete in a Jeopardy-style competition at the end of the summer to find out how much they know about the six books selected by the librarians. Adult Summer Reading – Between the Covers
Saturday, June 2 – Thursday, July 26. To register, participants must be 18 or older and fill out the registration form at the desk. Don’t forget to pick up your registration packet. Prizes will be awarded weekly and a grand prize will be given at the end of Summer Reading. Early registration begins Monday, May 21.

Summer Reading- As part of the North Shelby Library’s Summer Reading Program, the Mt Laurel Library will have all kinds of great programs and activities in June. Special summer programming
Dream Big, Read- Wednesdays, June 13, 20, 27, 2 p.m. for kindergarten through fifth grade. Drop in and register the week of June 4. Programs planned include Dr. Magic, Steppup from North Shelby Baptist Puppet Ministry and Chef U hosts cookie decorating time.
Own the Night- Thursdays, June 14, 21, 28, 2 p.m. for sixth through 12th grade. Programs planned include a craft project, a movie and Chef U hosts cupcake decorating.
Between the Covers, reading program for adults- Adults read this summer for an opportunity to win a Kindle. They will also be giving away three goody bags as usual. In order to enter the drawing you must read six books. The library will draw first for the Kindle then for the goody bags on Friday, July 27. You can pick up the forms for the reading log/entry beginning June 1.
